Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Route and events

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade begins its iconic journey at 72nd Street and Central Park West, where the giant balloons are inflated and launched, marking the official start of the festivities. From there, the parade heads south along Central Park West toward Columbus Circle, offering early views from Jazz at Lincoln Center. As the procession curves east onto 59th Street, spectators at Twin Tails and Sarabeth’s enjoy fantastic views of the floats and performers as they move past Central Park South. The parade then makes its way down 6th Avenue, with great viewing opportunities continuing past Acadia on 57th Street, Eataly at 49th Street, and Carnegie Diner on 47th Street. Each spot offers a unique perspective on the parade’s dazzling displays, from street-level excitement to elevated indoor comfort. As the route approaches 38th Street, the Marriott Marquis provides a prime Midtown vantage point just before the final stretch. The parade concludes at Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street, where the biggest performances and the arrival of Santa Claus mark the grand finale in front of a cheering crowd, Parade Brunch streams, and millions of viewers watching from home.

The Celebration Starts Thanksgiving Eve:
Balloon Inflation

While the Thanksgiving Day Parade officially kicks off at 8:30 AM on 72nd Street, the excitement begins the night before! Join locals and fans for a unique NYC tradition — the inflating of the parade balloons on the night before Thanksgiving. Wander the streets around the Museum of Natural History and watch as your favorite giant characters come to life, from Snoopy to Goku and Bluey. It’s the perfect way to kick off your holiday celebration and get a sneak peek at the magic to come.

Thanksgiving Morning:
Premium Parade Brunch Experience

Our Parade Brunch Events begin at 8:00 AM, with early seating starting at 7:30 AM. This allows guests plenty of time to settle in and enjoy a relaxed, elevated experience before the parade begins. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed with a warm beverage or a mimosa with a festive twist, followed by passed hors d’oeuvres like yogurt parfaits, French toast bites, and seasonal warm drinks. Most guests enjoy a first round of brunch entrées before the first floats arrive, ensuring they’re well-fed before the excitement takes over. Throughout the parade, guests are welcome to return for second (or third!) helpings, dining between appearances of beloved characters like Snoopy, Goku, and Bluey.

Sweet Endings To-Go

Our signature dessert service begins just before Santa Claus makes his big entrance — a sweet finale to the morning’s festivities. Desserts are thoughtfully prepared for easy grab-and-go, so guests can bring a little holiday cheer home to share with loved ones.
